Sunday 6 March was the annual Clean up Australia day, which David attended to assist a group of committed volunteers clean up Elwood beach. The event has become known as a project which includes the whole community after 21 years of successfully improving the environment in local areas.
The Clean Up Australia Day effort sees a nation-wide camaraderie of local community individuals, groups and businesses banding together to make a difference to Australia’s precious environment by clearing parks, beaches, bushland, waterways, streets and schools of litter and other waste.
David joined the local Elsternwick McDonald’s branch, led by Representative Kelly Paice. “With Australia having recently been affected by floods and other natural disasters, Mother Nature has made it even more apparent how important it is to look after our environment. What better place to start than in our local communities,” said Paice.
David was delighted to have the opportunity to work with local youth on such a worthwhile project. “Clean up Australia day is all about the local community coming together to better their environment. I was very impressed with the commitment of the volunteers I met on the day.”
