National Volunteer Week aims to recognise the contribution of volunteers all across Australia. This year the theme is Inspiring the Volunteer in You, encouraging others to become involved with volunteer organisations.
In 2011 National Volunteer Week is to be held from 9-15 May and will aim to raise the profile of volunteering, highlighting its importance.
Each year over 5 million Australians participate in voluntary work, amassing 710 million hours nationally. The work of volunteers is rich and varied encompassing sporting clubs, schools, provision of personal care, religious organisations, food services and more.
David said “I have always been a strong supporter of volunteer programs and a keen participant in a number of them myself. I consider the work of volunteers invaluable to building a strong and vibrant community.
I would like to hear about the valuable work local volunteer organisations are doing in the Caulfield community. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to share your experiences.”
Events hosted by volunteer organisations will be posted on the Volunteering Australia website and a search will allow you to locate those in your area.
