Member for Caulfield, David Southwick MP was the Guest of Honour at the Shelford Girls’ Grammar High Achievers’ Assembly on Friday, 7 February 2014.
The High Achievers in attendance were the 48% of Shelford students who received ATAR scores of 90 or higher, placing them in the top 10% of the nation.
Ms Polly Flanagan, Principal of Shelford Girls’ Grammar, is delighted that students at the Caulfield school have continued its strong academic tradition.
“I congratulate all of the students and staff whose dedication has contributed to these impressive results.
“Shelford students belong to a caring community where every girl is encouraged to develop confidence in her own abilities, and the capacity to embrace opportunities across a variety of disciplines.” Ms Flanagan said.
“Monash University and the University of Melbourne attracted the majority of students with 96% of Shelford graduates undertaking university courses. For the thirteenth year in a row, 100% of Shelford students have received a first round tertiary offer.”
Following a short address, Mr Southwick presented each student with a memento of the occasion.
“The Victorian Government wants all students to develop the capacity to engage globally at the highest levels, and the achievements of these Shelford students reveal an academic rigour for which Shelford Girls’ Grammar should be justifiably proud.”
