Melbourne Tigers are finals-bound for the first time in five years and received Victoria’s best wishes on the steps of Parliament House as the whole state gets behind them.
Member for Caulfield David Southwick MP and Sports Minister Damian Drum joined players, coach Chris Anstey, Victorian MPs, and fans outside Parliament House as the team bus rolled through the CBD en route to the airport ahead of the Tigers’ road trip to play the Adelaide 36ers in the opening game of the semi-final series.
It comes as the Tigers get behind the Premier’s Active April program, which encourages people to sign-up for half an hour’s exercise each day for the month.
As part of that program, the Tigers players and politicians will got active, shooting hoops on the unique portable hoop on the side of the Tiger bus.
The Tigers host Game 2 of the series at Hisense Arena on Sunday 30 March with all Victorians encouraged to get to the game and be part of an expected sell-out crowd.
