The Caulfield community will soon be able to get more active and healthy with the redevelopment of the Glen Huntly Reservoir to become a new park thanks to a $650,000 funding boost announced by Member for Caulfield David Southwick MP from the Victorian Government’s Community Facility Funding Program (CFFP).
David Southwick said the grant would help Glen Eira Council support the Glen Huntly Reservoir redevelopment project which will provide more opportunities for local families and residents to enjoy the new passive open space.
“Glen Eira has the lowest amount of open space of any municipality in Victoria,” Mr Southwick said.
“Following the Victorian Coalition Government’s funding of $30,000 for Glen Eira Council’s open space strategy, it’s fantastic to see the investment bearing fruit for our community with work commencing on the Glen Huntly Reservoir redevelopment.
“The Victorian Coalition Government is delighted to invest $650,000 in such a vital community project that will transform this unused land into a great new park for all residents to enjoy.
“This funding will help develop a quality, accessible community recreation space that will encourage people to get active, accommodate more people of all abilities and improve the health of the community for years to come.
“I commend Glen Eira Council on their community consultation and actioning of the Glen Eira open space strategy.
“I look forward to working with Glen Eira Council on this important community project and delivering a win for Caulfield.”
