• A re-elected Napthine Government will commit $9.5 million to undertake a major redevelopment of Glen Eira Secondary College
• Glen Eira College is the only government secondary school in the Caulfield electorate
• The redevelopment will increase flexible learning spaces, a range of sports and technology facilities, access to an innovative language centre and enhanced performing arts programs.
David Southwick MP, Member for Caulfield today announced that a re-elected Napthine Government will invest $9.5 million to local secondary school, Glen Eira College.
“Over my term as the Member for Caulfield, I have had a great relationship with Glen Eira College and have witnessed its growth through the strong leadership of Principal Sheereen Kindler and her skilled staff,” Mr Southwick said.
“The reality is the current facilities do not match the quality of teaching in addition to the increase of students at the school, which is why a re-elected Napthine government will deliver a much needed upgrade.
“Having held a number of community forums and public events at the Glen Eira College, this redevelopment is a great opportunity to upgrade these spaces and make them more accessible to our community.”
Earlier this year, Glen Eira College received a $10,000 grant from the Napthine Government to develop a new sister school relationship with a school in New Caledonia.
“The Napthine Coalition Government supports a first-class education and training system to ensure all Victorians have the skills they need for the future,” Mr Southwick said.
“Glen Eira Secondary College is committed to providing every student with the opportunities to develop their talents and skills, supported by a rich and varied extra-curricular program.”
The Napthine Government was building a better education system, with a record $9.2 billion for school education in 2014-15, $1 billion more than Labor’s last budget in 2010.
