Victoria-Israel Economic Collaboration Saved

After an 8 month closure of the Victoria-Israel Science Innovation and Technology Scheme (VISITS), it is with great pleasure that I can inform you that the Victorian Labor Government has finally agreed to reopen this important economic-collaboration.

Having led the former Coalition Government’s review and re-establishment of VISITS and in my current capacity as Shadow Minister for Innovation, I have been calling on the Premier and his responsible Ministers to reinstate and support the VISITS program since its closure in December 2014.

In response to an adjournment I made in the Victorian Parliament on 16 April 2015, the Premier recently confirmed it is now the Government’s intention to renew the $2 million innovation partnership between Victoria and Israel which promotes research and development between the two States.

VISITS supports jobs, innovation and trade, which is why it is vital that there exists bipartisan support for the program to build on the former Coalition Government’s progress.
