This morning United Energy confirmed they are installing eleven diesel generators at five sites across the Mornington Peninsula, as part of a desperate demand response plan to avoid blackouts this summer.
These diesel generators are a part of a package that will see up to 10 local businesses voluntarily switching-off during peak periods in return for a financial incentive, to ensure local power demand can be met.
This demand response plan comes as AEMO warns Victorians they face a 1 in 3 chance of blackouts this summer, yet Daniel Andrews continues to pass the buck and leave it to everyone but himself to secure our state’s energy supply.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick:
“Twelve months since Daniel Andrews shut down Hazelwood and sucked 22% of baseload power from the grid, Victorians are still relying on desperate stop-gap measures.
Daniel Andrews has no plan to provide enough power to prevent blackouts, other than ridiculous media stunts and pie-in-the-sky ideas.”
