Reports today highlight the swift response from dodgy solar retailers who have come out of the woodwork under Daniel Andrews’ rooftop solar scheme.
Solar Victoria’s chief operating officer Mr Jonathon Leake, has warned of “unscrupulous people” active in the solar retail market who are taking advantage of ordinary Victorians by selling dodgy products in pursuit of a quick buck.
Access to Daniel Andrews’ solar rebates are now available, despite a November 2017 Consumer Action Law Centre report finding that less than 1% of Australia’s Solar Retailers are signatories to the Clean Energy Council’s Solar Retail Code of Conduct – the industry standard for trader and sales conduct.
Under Daniel Andrews, Victorians are paying $300 more for electricity, up to $500 more for gas and are now exposed to unsolicited solar sales form dodgy retailers taking advantage of Labor’s latest botched energy scheme.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Southwick:
“How can Daniel Andrews claim safety is paramount when less than 1% of the retailers operating under his solar scheme are accredited?
Labor has opened the floodgates to dodgy installers taking advantage of vulnerable Victorians who just want to get their power bills down.
Only a Matthew Guy Liberal Nationals Government will get the ideology out of energy and ease cost of living pressures for all Victorians.”
