Police powerless at Alphington protest

Today’s protest of the removal of two gum trees from a APA Group site in Alphington again highlights the need for “move-on” laws to be reinstated in Victoria.

Reports today have indicated that up to 60 police attended the protest this morning, which had been ongoing for more than 3 weeks.

In 2015 the Andrews Labor Government repealed these laws, which gave police the power to move on activists targeting and harassing law abiding Victorians.

Daniel Andrews loves to talk big about resourcing Victoria Police but his actions have compromised its ability to resolve disruptive protests peacefully and efficiently.
